Hyundai Motor India has announced the commencement of bookings for the Exter at INR 11,000. The subcompact SUV placed under the Venue will be offered in five trim levels, such as EX, S, SX, SX(O) and SX(O) Connect.
The SUV will get three powertrain options, including a 1.2L Kappa petrol engine (E20 Fuel Ready) available with 5-speed manual transmission (5MT), Smart Auto AMT (Automated Manual Transmission) and 1.2L Bi-fuel Kappa petrol with CNG engine equipped with 5-speed Manual transmission.
Available in six monotone and three dual-tone exterior colour options, the Exter will feature Projector headlamps, H-Signature LED DRLs & Diamond cut alloys, and a host of segment-first and unique features, HMIL said.
Tarun Garg, COO, Hyundai Motor India, noted that with the new SUV, the company is venturing into a new segment that further enhances HMI’s position as a full-range SUV manufacturer.
“Considering the aspirations and lifestyle of Gen Z customers, Hyundai Exter will provide unique and exciting experiences for new-age customers,” he added.
The Exter is said to rival the likes of the Tata Punch. Notably, the sub-compact SUVs from Tata Motors - Punch and Nexon recorded retails of 176,846 units, while the Hyundai Venue recorded retails of 105,091 units as per the SIAM data.
