The association will enable ICAT to provide its services globally by supporting overseas automotive component manufacturers.

ICAT and KATECH

In a bid to support pneumatic tyre testing, International Centre for Automotive Technology (ICAT) has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Korea Automotive Technology Institute (KATECH).

KATECH was established based on ‘Industrial technology innovation & promotion law’ under the authority of the Ministry of Knowledge and Economy in 1990.

The institute's mission is to support the regional auto part industry, especially small & medium enterprises, to secure sustainable growth by offering R&D support, reliability assessment tests, technical information, and human resources development.

Apart from Indian certification, as per various Automotive Industry Standards (AIS), ICAT will collaborate with KATECH in the field of future technologies like sustainable and connected transportation, and ADAS, among others.

With this MoU, ICAT aligns with its commitment towards providing its services globally by supporting overseas automotive component manufacturers.

Pamela Tikku, Officiating-Director, ICAT, said, “We envisage more collaboration with KATECH beyond Indian certification.”

She added that ICAT intends to collaborate with KATECH for research-oriented projects in emerging automotive technologies.

Youn Jongsik, Vice President, KATECH, said, “After signing MoU with ICAT, both the organisations will be able to provide services of certification as well as research & development to their customers around the world.”
