Replace the existing Napoli Black colour

The Mahindra Thar and Scorpio Classic have soldiering on in the background even as their sister car- the XUV700 got a major upgrade earlier this year. To give them a little refresh, Mahindra has added a new black shade called Stealth Black for both cars. It replaces the existing shade called Napoli Black that’s been on both cars since they were launched in 2020 and 2022 respectively.

Mahindra joins a long list of manufacturers in this part of the market who have started to emphasize darker shades, black especially, as there are now significant numbers of buyers who want stand-out colours. Kia, Hyundai, and Volkswagen all have matte paint schemes while Tata has jumped on the dark bandwagon once again with dark editions for the Nexon/Nexon EV, Harrier and Safari.

The presence of so many dark colours is a sign of changing times, especially in a country like India where white has traditionally been the choice of car buyers both in the private and fleet segment.

The Mahindra Thar is the automaker’s lifestyle product and will be joined by a five-door version in the second half of this year. On the other hand, the Scorpio Classic is the previous generation SUV that’s been rebadged and targeted at lower price points and also for rural markets.
