Mercedes-Benz has launched the AMG E 53 Cabriolet 4MATIC+ for INR 1.3 crore, ex-showroom, India. To be produced at the Bremen plant in Germany, the new cabriolet finds its way to India through the CBU route.

Interestingly, the new E53 cabriolet becomes the first soft top offering from the stable of AMG to be introduced in India. Earlier the E class offered in the cabriolet form was in the E400 guise. With the new performance model, the German luxury brand now offers ten AMG models in India, with three being locally produced in India.

Santosh Iyer, MD and CEO, Mercedes-Benz India, noted that the performance model's demand remains strong for Mercedes-Benz India as the market grows.

Powered by a 3.0-litre inline six-cylinder turbocharged mild-hybrid petrol engine mated to an AMG Speedshift 9G transmission, the car makes do with 435bhp and 520Nm of torque sent to all four corners. Additionally, the EQ boost starter-alternator can produce 16 kW and 250 Nm of torque for a brief moment.

The company claims that the cabriolet can go from zero to 100kmph in 4.5 seconds and achieve an electronically limited top speed of 250kmph. Dynamic Select driving modes and AMG’s Ride Control+ air suspension enhance the vehicle's driving quotient.

On the design front, the vehicle, based on the standard wheelbase E-Class, sees the AMG signature Pan-Americana grille at the front with the AMG logo and power bulge on the bonnet. At the side, the soft top comes with 19-inch AMG alloy wheels as standard, while a 20-inch option is also available, and at the rear, it gets a quad exhaust setup with a lip spoiler on the trunk.

Inside the cabin, it gets a set of 12.3-inch screens for the infotainment system and instrument cluster. Besides, the cabin also features a flat-bottom Nappa leather-wrapped AMG steering wheel, aluminium pedals, wireless phone charger, 19-speaker Burmester sound system, ambient lighting, and an AIRSCARF with wind deflector at the front and rear, which keeps the front occupants' necks heated.

Available in six paint shade options with four rooftop colours and three interior colours, the vehicle can further be customised with the disigno package.
