Ola Electric Upcoming Product

Ola Electric is not launching its first electric car in India on August 15, 2022, the start-up's CEO Bhavish Aggarwal has clarified. Instead, the start-up might launch an upgraded variant of its existing electric scooter S1 or an all-new electric two-wheeler in the country. Aggarwal's tweet mentions that the Ola Electric product launching on August 15, 2022, is the greenest one Ola Electric has ever worked on. His tweet read, 'On 15 August, we are launching the greenest product we have ever made.'

There are also possibilities that the start-up might launch a new colour variant of its existing S1 and S1 Pro electric scooters.

Aggarwal, last week, tweeted about Ola Electric launching a new product in India on August 15, 2022.

Notably, the start-up's electric scooter sales have declined over the last few months. Against 9,258 electric scooters, it sold in May 2022, it managed to sell only 3,852 in July 2022, as per Vahan Portal data. An Ola Electric scooter had caught fire earlier this year. The start-up had recalled over 1,000 electric scooters in April 2022.

The Softbank-backed start-up is also a part of the Government of India's Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme. It also has set up a future factory to manufacture electric vehicles in the country.
