It is not easy to sell vehicles, including cars and bikes in India without having dealerships/product experience zones in India, which Ola Electric seems to have realised it. The start-up has now decided to open its first EV centre in Delhi.

Slated to open on 18 September 2022, 5.00pm in Delhi's Patparganj Industrial Area, the start-up is calling it a one-stop destination for all things related to Ola Scooter, including options, delivery, and more.

The company is now taking the traditional vehicle original equipment manufacturer (OEM) approach, noted Saurav Kumar, MD, Protiviti Member Firm For India. He said, 'It is a proven way to bring customers inside a brick and mortar setup to physically feel a product. The showroom will help Ola address safety concerns of people around electric scooters. The customer care number provided by Ola Electric has not been of much to many people.'

Ola Electric will also probably use these experience zones to retail yet-to-be-launched accessories for its existing range of electric scooters. Bhavish Aggarwal, CEO, Ola Electric, has time and again been tweeting about the upcoming Ola Electric accessories.

The company had recently introduced its second electric scooter Ola S1 in India. Ola's team has previously claimed to have received bookings for over 10,000 S1 scooters so far.

Meanwhile, the sales of Ola Electric S1 Pro, the company's existing electric scooter, have been decreasing month-on-month (MoM). Numbers sourced from the Vahan portal point out that the start-up had sold the maximum number of Ola S1 Pro scooters in April this year (12,703).

The following months have been a ride down south for the company. While May 2022 registered sales of 9,255 units, June and July accounted for 5,883 and 3,853 units, respectively. August registered sales of around 3,400 units of the S1 Pro.
