Mahindra recently introduced the new XUV 3XO in the Indian market, with prices starting at Rs. 7.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The model also marked the debut of a panoramic sunroof in the segment, which was offered only up to the mid-size SUV segment until now.
Tata Motors is now believed to be working on a variant of the Nexon that will come equipped with a panoramic sunroof. The feature could be limited only to the higher-spec trims of the model at launch.
The Nexon seems to be facing heat from the XUV 3XO, as is evident from its instant response of introducing new variants with a lower price tag closer to that of the XUV 3XO. That said, it still commands a premium of Rs. 50,000, while missing out on a few features compared to Mahindra’s latest offering, including all four power windows, height-adjustable front seatbelts, electrically adjustable ORVMs, USB Type-C ports, and more.
Notably, the XUV 3XO, equipped with a panoramic sunroof, is available from the AX7 variant onwards, prices of which begin at Rs. 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom). The Nexon with this key feature is also expected to be priced around the same ballpark.
