In a significant milestone, Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar) has secured certification under the Auto Production Linked Incentive (PLI) scheme, solidifying its position as the first automotive component manufacturer to achieve this recognition.

Sona Comstar's Research and Development team played a pivotal role in the in-house design and development of these EV traction motors, successfully launching them into production in 2020. The company's commitment to innovation and the delivery of cutting-edge technologies has earned it the trust of customers, establishing it as a leading manufacturer of EV traction motors in India.

The Auto PLI scheme, introduced by the Government in 2021, aims to incentivise domestic production in the auto and auto component sector for high-value advanced automotive technology vehicles and products. With a budgetary outlay of INR 259 billion over five years, starting from FY24, the scheme has positioned Sona Comstar as a trailblaser in this transformative initiative.

Vivek Vikram Singh, MD & Group CEO of Sona Comstar, acknowledged the contributions of MHI, IFCI Limited, and GARC in securing the PLI certification. Singh highlighted that this recognition reinforces the company's commitment to showcasing India's engineering prowess and solving intricate engineering challenges for its customers. He emphasised Sona Comstar's dedication to fostering greener, safer, and smarter mobility globally by continuing to develop, engineer, and manufacture innovative products in India.
