Star Air is currently flying over 19 destinations across India, and the new aircraft will help the airline grow its regional presence.

The regional airline, Star Air’s first Embraer E175, arrived in Bengaluru last evening. The aircraft was originally slated to arrive in India in January.

Star Air, the aviation vertical of Sanjay Ghodawat Group, had inked a lease agreement with Nordic Aviation Capital (NAC) for two E175s in December 2022, adding to an order for two E175 jets, inked at the Farnborough International Airshow, UK, in August 2022.

Star Air's E175 is configured with less than 80 seats, allowing it to benefit from lower fuel taxes in participating states and a waiver on landing fees in participating airports in India.

The E175 is powered by GE CF34-8E engines and has a range of approximately 3,000 km, and a meaningful under-belly cargo capacity, allowing Star Air to gain additional revenue. The airline also operates Embraer ERJ 145 regional jets.
