Tata Motors Commences Bookings Of AMT CNG Cars At INR 21,000 mobility outlook

Tata Motors has once again shaken up the CNG segment by introducing the country’s first-ever Automated Manual Transmission (AMT) in its CNG cars. The Tiago and Tigor iCNG models are now available for booking at an attractive starting price of INR 21,000.

This move is not only a milestone for Tata Motors but also a significant offering for consumers seeking a combination of CNG economy, automatic convenience, safety assurance, and top-of-the-line comfort and convenience features. The Tiago iCNG AMT will be offered in three variants – XTA CNG, XZA+ CNG, and XZA NRG, while the Tigor iCNG AMT will have two variants – XZA CNG and XZA+ CNG.

The Tiago and Tigor iCNG AMT models are India’s first automatic cars providing petrol-like performance and comfort. With best-in-class performance and drivability, smooth gear shifting quality, high restart gradability, and easy creep behavior in traffic and parking, Tata Motors aims to set a new standard in the automatic CNG vehicle market.

The innovative Twin Cylinder CNG tanks, a first in the industry, are strategically placed below the luggage area, ensuring uncompromised boot space. The cars feature a single advanced Electronic Control Unit (ECU) for seamless shifting between petrol and CNG modes, a direct start in CNG mode, and a micro switch for added safety during refuelling. The safety features include thermal incident protection, safe location of CNG cylinders, and advanced materials in the iCNG kit to prevent leakage and detect gas leaks.

Both the Tiago and Tigor iCNG AMT cars are equipped with a powerful 1.2L Revotron Engine, offering unmatched performance with a perfect combination of power and pick-up. Tata Motors aims to provide customers with a compelling choice, meeting the growing demand for CNG vehicles with automatic transmission technology.

Since their launch, the Tiago and Tigor models have achieved significant milestones, garnering popularity among young and dynamic customers. The addition of the AMT CNG variants further expands Tata Motors' CNG portfolio, addressing the need for automatic technology in this segment. With the CNG industry witnessing substantial growth, Tata Motors is positioning itself as a major player with a comprehensive CNG portfolio, including Tiago, Tigor, Altroz, and Punch, and experiencing a robust 67.9% growth in CNG sales in FY24 compared to the previous year.
