Leading vehicle maker Tata Motors, on Wednesday, launched the iCNG version of its Tiago and Tigor in the price ranging from INR 6.10 lakh and INR 8.30 lakh, ex-showroom Delhi.

With this launch, the vehicle maker intends to improve its position in the CNG segment. Going forward, it anticipates CNG variants to account for 30-35% of Tiago and Tigor sales, while these new products will account for 7-10% of total sales.

These new models will address CNG lovers’ power and performance requirements as they come with the same Revotron 1.2 litre BS-VI engine coupled to a 5-speed transmission, delivering a maximum output of 73PS. Furthermore, the manufacturer has equipped this engine with a single advanced ECU, allowing for an auto switchover between fuels and direct start in CNG mode.

The iCNG variant of Tiago is offered in four variations, while the Tigor comes in two variants, with several features, including projector headlamps, LED DRLs, rain-sensing wipers, and automatic headlamps.

On the safety front, the vehicles are made using high-strength steel to form the chassis. They also come with safety features like dual airbags, ABS with EBD and Corner Stability Control and such things.

Available in two new colours, Midnight Plum for the Tiago and Magnetic Red for the Tigor, these vehicles will come with a two-year or 75,000-kilometer guarantee as a standard option for all customers.

Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director, Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles and Tata Passenger Electric Mobility, said, “The demand for both economical personal mobility as well as greener, emission friendly mobility is rapidly rising. Developed on the 4-pillars of Design, Performance, Safety and Technology, the feature rich iCNG technology will further expand the appeal of our popular ‘New Forever’ range of cars and SUVs to open new vistas for growth.”

With 99,002 units sold in Q3 FY22, the company reported the highest quarterly sales in a decade. It also had the best monthly sales in a decade, selling 35,299 units in December 21.
