India Yamaha Motor (IYM) on Monday introduced the refreshed 2023 lineup of its 125 cc scooter range - the Fascino 125 Fi hybrid, Ray ZR 125 Fi hybrid and Ray ZR Street Rally 125 Fi hybrid.

The hybrid scooter range is equipped with E20 fuel-compliant engine that delivers the same performance with significantly lower emissions. The engine is also OBD2 compliant. Besides, it helps track data vital to the engine’s health and performance in real-time, which further helps elevate the user’s experience and reduce emissions.

The 125 cc hybrid scooter range is now powered by Yamaha’s Bluetooth Enabled Y-Connect App (factory-fitted), providing a host of convenient features, including a Fuel Consumption Tracker, Maintenance Recommendations, Last Parking Location, Malfunction Notification, Revs Dashboard, Rider Ranking and more.

The disc variant of the Fascino 125 Fi hybrid & Ray ZR 125 Fi hybrid model will be available in the all-new Dark Matt Blue colour, while the Ray ZR Street Rally 125 Fi hybrid will be available in Matte Black & Light Grey Vermillion. Also, the disc & drum variant of Ray ZR 125 Fi hybrid gets sporty and stylish graphics in Matt Red, Metallic Black and Cyan Blue.

Yamaha’s new 2023, 125 cc hybrid scooter range is powered by a BS6 OBD2 & E-20 fuel compliant, air-cooled, fuel injected (FI), 125 cc blue core engine that produces 8.2 PS of power @ 6,500 RPM and a torque of 10.3 NM @ 5,000 RPM. The hybrid engine includes a Smart Motor Generator (SMG) System tailored to supplement the riding pleasure of a scooter.

Based on the OEM's true hybrid technology, the Intelligent Power Assist feature delivers an additional thrust utilising the SMG system that doubles up as an electric motor. This gives additional linear power when the rider accelerates from a stop, reducing the wobble during start-outs in tandem riding or uphill climbs, promoting more confident riding. The 125 Fi hybrid engine continues to feature all class-leading features as standard, including the automatic stop & start system that prevents engine idling and starts with a single throttle twist and the in-built side stand engine cut-off switch for added safety.

With the launch of the 2023 variants of the scooters, the company aims to cater to a wide range of target customers. The Fascino 125 FI hybrid is targeted to customers who are high on fashion and who find the true reflection of their riding personality by the mobility they ride and the performance it offers. At the same time, the Ray ZR accentuates the Real Boys’ Scooter concept by balancing the deeply sculpted masculine appeal with a sense of speed.

Eishin Chihana, Chairman, Yamaha Motor India Group of Companies, said, “The scooter segment is getting quite competitive in India and customers have much higher expectations from the brands. As a leading two-wheeler brand in India, our commitment goes beyond motorcycles and that’s what we have tried to deliver with the 2023 version of our 125cc hybrid scooter range. This is a significant step towards our goal of achieving carbon neutrality.”
