ACMA's 'Transforming Mobility 2024' Summit Charts The Future of EV Component Manufacturing in India

The event showcased the latest in EV technologies and components, emphasising the Indian component industry's manufacturing capabilities and readiness to embrace the shift towards sustainable transportation.

The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA) has once again underscored its pivotal role in the evolution of the electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem with the successful conclusion of the 'Transforming Mobility 2024 - Global Summit & Expo'. The event, which took place on February 26th and 27th at the Manekshaw Centre in New Delhi, marked a significant milestone in fostering global and domestic collaborations for over 50 EV component manufacturers, setting the stage for India's leadership in EV components manufacturing and innovation.

In its fourth edition, the expo became a dynamic convergence point for OEMs, startups, policymakers, and international delegates from more than 16 countries, including Japan, Germany, Korea, Taiwan, Egypt, Lebanon, the United Kingdom, and others.

Shradha Suri Marwah, President of ACMA and Managing Director of Subros Ltd., highlighted the transformative potential of electric vehicles and the burgeoning manufacturing opportunities in India. 'With the auto components sector investing around USD 3.5 to 4 billion in manufacturing and R&D over the past five years, and an anticipated investment of USD 6.5 - 7 billion in the next five years in new-age technologies including electronics and EV components, India's automotive industry is poised for continued growth and development,' Marwah stated. She also noted the industry's record turnover of USD 70 billion in FY23, underscoring the robust performance of the auto components sector and its growing contributions to EV OEMs.

Vinnie Mehta, Director General of ACMA, reiterated the organisation's commitment to driving industry growth, innovation, and competitiveness, particularly in the burgeoning EV market. 'ACMA stands at the forefront of this transformative journey, steadfast in its commitment to nurturing innovation, enhancing competitiveness, and fostering a sustainable automotive future,' Mehta said.

The event was graced by Chief Guest Dr. Hanif Quershi, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Heavy Industries, Government of India, and Guest of Honour Deepak Thukral, EO – Supply Chain, Maruti Suzuki India, who offered insights into the emerging automotive landscape in the country.

Notable auto components manufacturers such as Sona Comstar, Uno Minda, JBM Group, Lucas TVS, Minda Corporation, NRB Bearings, Rosmerta Technologies, Sandhar Technologies, and Vikas Groups were among the participants, showcasing their latest innovations and technologies.
