EKA has received CMVR (Central Motor Vehicle Rules) certification for its 2.5-tonne electric light commercial vehicle from the Central Institute of Road Transport.

“The completion of our e-LCV’s homologation is a truly monumental achievement by the whole team in such a short span of time,” said Sudhir Mehta, Chairman & Managing Director of Pinnacle Mobility Solutions, the parent company of EKA.

The company plans to start production of the e-LCV in Pune this month and roll out the first lot to buyers early next year. “We are planning to push the initial lot by the end of Jan'23 to a few select customers for initial feedback and performance tracking. We will eventually ramp up the production over the next couple of months,” said B Anil Baliga, President, EKA.

The major thrust will happen in mid-2023 with a completely ‘Made-in-India’ product from a state-of-the-art smart lean manufacturing unit. According to him, the segment was likely to touch 100,000 units over the next five years.
