Honda has unveiled its 'Stree सारथी…steering her own path' initiative aimed at training and empowering female cab drivers. The inaugural training batch for these aspiring drivers was commemorated at Honda's Institute of Driving Training and Research (IDTR) in Karnal, Haryana.

This initiative comes as a result of a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) between Honda's IDTR, the National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) as the nodal agency, and Kedman Skilling Private Limited as the mobilisation partner.

The core objective of this initiative is to empower women by providing them with avenues for economic independence, particularly in unconventional domains such as transportation. Through this initiative, IDTR aims to up skill over 250 female participants, equipping them with the necessary knowledge and expertise to pursue careers as cab drivers.

The training program at IDTR encompasses various aspects, including interactive theory sessions on road safety rules and defensive driving techniques, advanced driving simulators for skill enhancement in simulated environments, a dedicated driving lab equipped with state-of-the-art technology, on-track driving training focusing on precision manoeuvres and obstacle avoidance, and familiarisation with the latest testing procedures and equipment through an automated driving testing track.

Vinay Dhingra, Vice President of IDTR Karnal, Haryana, reiterated Honda's commitment to promoting gender equality and providing opportunities for women to excel in all spheres. He emphasised Honda's dedication to inclusivity and its long-term mission of becoming a 'Company that Society wants to Exist.'
