iCreate (International Centre for Entrepreneurship and Technology) has announced the winners for the second season of EVangelise’22. This exercise is an effort to promote and identify the start-up ecosystem in India.

Gyrodrive Machineries, C Electric Automotive Drives and Fasmho Energy Systems bagged the top three positions in the TRL>4 category, while Cancrie, Vijigi Energy and INTAKT EV Hybrids took the honours in the TRL<4 segment.

These six winners received cash prizes of INR 10 lakh, INR 7.5 lakh and INR 5 lakh respectively, while six consolation prizes worth INR 3 lakh were also given.

The top three TRL>4 winners also received INR 50 lakh as incubation support to take their ideas to market. Industry leaders who supported and provided guidance to the innovators of EVangelise’22 included BPCL, Mahindra Logistics, Tata Stryder, JOY ebike, Turntide Technologies, and Rotomag.

Avinash Punekar, CEO, iCreate, said the second edition saw participation from over 1,160 start-ups from across 23 states and union territories. Of these, 40 were chosen for boot camp while 18 made to the final list.

The aim of EVangelise’22 is to put India on the global EV innovation map by identifying clean, low-cost, innovative technologies. This edition saw a significant growth in the number of EV component start-ups with over six making it to the final list, added Punekar.

He told Mobility Outlook that there were some unique concepts such as a range extender technology to address range anxiety without a charging/swapping station. There was also a start-up building a simulation platform.

Chetan Maini, Co-Founder and Vice-Chairman, Sun Mobility, said start-ups should keep looking at innovative ideas even though some might fail. “This failure will provide a good market view and hence helping you (start-ups) to come up more suitable solutions,” he added. Besides technology, Maini continued, start-ups should also look at building the right team where members share a similar mind-set.
