RLDA Opens Bids For Commercial Development Railway Plot In North Chennai To Set Up Warehouse

The statutory body of Indian Railways - Rail Land Development Authority (RLDA), on Tuesday, opened bids for the commercial development of a Railway plot covering 50,010 sqm for warehouse use at Tiruvottiyur, a prominent industrial cum commercial locality in North Chennai.

The reserve price for the site is INR 25.3 crore. The online pre-bid meeting was held on April 7, 2022, where various logistics firms showed keen interest in this land parcel. The last date of e-bid submission is May 17, RLDA stated.

Located 400 meters from Manali Road, the proposed site is well connected to various parts of the city, a release from the statutory body said.

Additionally, it is adjacent to Ennore High Road towards the East, Buckingham Canal towards the West and is surrounded by railroad lands towards the South.

Ved Parkash Dudeja, Vice-Chairman, RLDA, said, “With the growth in e-commerce across the country, demand for warehousing space is at an all-time high. The proposed site will be an ideal location for big e-commerce companies to set up warehouses to meet the ever-increasing logistics demand.”

The site is located at a distance of 1.1 km from Tiruvottiyur Railway Station of the suburban MRTS system and is 2.5 km away from the Metro Station of Tiruvottiyur, the release added.
