Toyota Kirloskar Motor on Wednesday teased its upcoming MPV, the Innova Hycross. As per the reports, the MPV is set to be unveiled on November 25, 2022, while bookings for the same will commence on the same day.

The new MPV will sit above the ongoing Innova Crysta and retailed as a more premium model than the latter. In addition, premium features such as a panoramic sunroof, ambient lighting, a larger touchscreen system, a fully digital instrument cluster, and leather seats will be available on the new MPV.

However, sources from the industry told Mobility Outlook that the current Innova Crysta will still be retailed alongside the new model.

Speaking of the new Innova Hycross, they said that the MPV will measure almost equal to the ongoing model and will be based on the company’s new front-wheel-drive TNGA modular monocoque platform.

Meanwhile, the new model will be offered in two powertrain options - a 2.0-litre strong hybrid powertrain and a naturally aspirated 2.0-litre petrol, the sources said.

The company is now slowly retiring diesel power plants from its portfolio, with only the Fortuner being offered a diesel engine. To remain strong in the fuel game while also being sustainably sound, the company relies on its hybrid technology, starting with the Urban Cruiser Hyryder, the sources added.

The brand’s compact SUV has sold over 4,500 units in two months since its launch in September 2022. Interestingly, most bookings were for strong hybrid variants, with the waiting period for the models currently ranging from seven to eight months, depending on the dealership.
