The brand has a 50% solar-based charging network for now, and is planning to go 100% solar by the end of this year.

Zevo India mobility outlook

In the complicated world of commercial electric vehicles (EVs), where innovation and sustainability intersect, Zevo India is carving out a significant niche under the strategic directions of its Chief Executive Officer, Aditya Singh Ratnu. Established just three years ago, Zevo has rapidly elevated to become one of the leading lights in India's EV mobility sector, driven by a commitment to zero-emission vehicles and sustainable practices that challenge the industry's status quo.

From Agritech Beginnings To Notable EV Players

The beginnings of Zevo were rooted in agritech, but it quickly the brand expanded its vision to encompass broader set of mobility needs. 'We started researching a lot of things, especially with respect to agritech and the solution towards transportation further. Quickly we realised that it requires not just in the agriculture space but in every other space as well,' Aditya mentioned. This realisation spurred the diversification into a comprehensive mobility platform that now boasts nearly 1,400 vehicles ranging from two-wheelers to larger electric trucks.

Commitment To Quality & Sustainability

What sets Zevo apart in the rapidly growing EV market is its uncompromising stance on quality and longevity. Aditya is critical of the industry's rush to adopt technologies that don't promise durability. 'If a vehicle is not running without problems for five to 10 years, it is not green at all,' he asserts, highlighting the environmental cost of vehicles that are scrapped prematurely. Under his leadership, Zevo insists on a five-year unlimited kilometres warranty for the battery and motor control units, collaborating exclusively with high-quality providers like Ola, Gogoro, and several Indian and international companies.

Pioneering Solar-Powered Charging & Expanding Reach

In its quest for complete sustainability, Zevo has set ambitious goals for its charging infrastructure. 'We have targeted about 50% solar-based charging this year and 100% by next year,' Aditya shares. This initiative is part of a broader strategy to ensure that the entire lifecycle of their vehicles, from production to operation, is environmentally friendly.

Geographically, Zevo's presence spans 24 cities across India, with plans to expand further into the south and east, including new launches in cities like Chennai and Hyderabad. This expansion is supported by a well-structured organisation and sophisticated technology that not only enhances operational efficiency but also empowers their riders with real-time data and support.

Nurturing The Workforce & Fostering Inclusivity

At the heart of Zevo's operations is a commitment to its workforce. Aditya takes pride in the company's low attrition rate and the supportive measures in place, such as advance salary options for drivers, which reflect the company's understanding of the economic realities faced by its employees. Moreover, the company is actively working to enhance inclusivity, planning to introduce a women-only fleet for ride-sharing services, demonstrating a proactive approach to gender diversity in the mobility sector.

AI Integration & Global Aspirations

Looking to the future, Zevo is not resting on its achievements. Aditya explained that they have plans to launch AI-enabled fleets by year-end, which will enhance vehicle analytics and driving behaviour monitoring. The data acquisition from these systems will greatly benefit operators, and the brand itself. This advancement will aid in the enhancement of fleet management efficiency and operational safety standards.

Furthermore, another next for Zevo’s innovative streak is the entry into refrigerated EVs, a market largely untapped in India but teeming with potential. 'We are working on an even better model and even better tech for that,' Aditya hints, alluding to developments that could enhance the transport of perishable goods across India and beyond.
